You know...Juneau?

Yes, I am in the capitol city of Alaska, Juneau. I am here for the 4th of July Celebration and to visit family. My parents and I flew in on Tuesday night and have been staying at my aunt's new house. Yesterday we slept in a bit but then headed downtown to join the thousands of cruise chip tourists in discovering what Juneau was all about.

I wish I could post my pictures from my camera, but I forgot the cord thingy so the photos will have to wait until I get home. Anyway, we took the Mount Roberts Tramway up Mt. Roberts and the weather was absolutely amazing (uncommon for Southeast Alaska) and so we could see down the Gastineau channel for miles and miles and miles. The sun was out and a very comfortable 70 degrees.

My dad, mom, brother, cousin and brother's girlfriend had lunch on the restaurant that's about halfway up the mountain. Then we hiked for about 45 minutes around the mountain on trails. There was also a bald eagle sanctuary, a visitors center, Tlingit/Haida culture movie, gift shops and exhibits throughout the little park on the side of Mt. Roberts.

Then we got back to my aunt's house and helped her cook dinner for about 30 people. A whole bunch of family and friends came over and we had a great time listening to my cousin Lisa perform some of her songs. Lisa is a songwriter and lives in Nashville. She's wrote songs that have been cut by a lot of country music stars and recently, Jewel. How cool is that? She is just amazing and her songs are always interesting and moving.

Didn't get to bed until late last night and so I slept in. My parents and aunt went with my cousin for his surgery this morning. They just got back about an hour ago and they are all taking naps, so the house right now is real quiet. Looking forward to tonight, as we are going to my parents friends house for a party and to watch he 1 am fireworks.  We have to be up at 5am to catch the ferry to Hoonah tomorrow morning. A whole bunch of the family here in Juneau is going over there to visit my grandparents.  We'll come back Sunday morning and fly back home.

Worried about my man -- he got sick yesterday and the last time I talked to him was about 4pm yesterday.  I have tried to call him about 6 times since last night and today.  Getting worried because he usually is good about calling back or texting me back. He never gets sick and so I am wondering if it's really bad...who knows, he could be in the hospital or something.  And there's nothing I can do until I get back home to make sure he's alright. 

Oh, another piece of news is that I have a job interview on Tuesday so maybe I can work at least a little so I can have more income.  The job may not pay as much as my last one, but it is at least something. Well, that's all I have for now.  Don't know when the next time I'll have access to a computer, but hey, when I do I'll keep on bloggin ;)
